Heather Clancy is the Pay & Reward Manager at the University of Birmingham, bringing over 20 years of experience in Human Resources (HR). Her career in higher education began in general advisory services and employee relations, before specializing in pay and reward.
Heather is passionate about designing reward approaches that enhance the attraction and brand of the organisation and the overall employee experience. Heather's contributions in the field of reward are aimed at attracting, retaining, and motivating employees, fostering engagement, and building a strong community. In recent years, she has focused on staff benefits as a key strategy for attracting and retaining talent, boosting morale and productivity, and enhancing workplace culture. Under her leadership, the variety and volume of staff benefits have increased, offering a range of financial savings and wellbeing initiatives. This has led to a much more engaged workforce who feel valued and supported. Staff benefits are now seen as an integral part of the employee experience rather than an isolated add-on.
Before her role in higher education, Heather gained valuable experience working in HR for the NHS and West Midlands Police.
